I would say much of my minimalistic influence came from an old tv show entitled Kung Fu: The Legend Continues, with David Carradine. His character was a simple man that traveled with very few belongings. Projected a peaceful existence and avoided violence (though he couldn’t help getting involved some how or another with his police officer son).
RIP David <3 I adore you. You influenced me in my way of life at an early age, along with your wonderful instructional dvd's on Tai Chi and Chi Gong which I practiced religiously for 3 years ![]()
You weren't just a tv show. You lived much of your life enjoying the art of Kung Fu and Tai Chi.
Having you as an influence to a simpler way of life even if it was a tv show, along with meditation and discipline which you instructed in your videos has helped guide me to the place where I am in life now, finishing up my education in massage therapy and the healing arts.
There are a few influences that have affected the path I walk: Jesus, the Dalai Lama, Gandhi, and David
Keeping it simple

I loved that TV show, too.
I watched the show all the time when I was growing up. May 1976 I put on my David Carradine hat, everything I owned into a backpack, and I hitch-hiked solo from NC to San Diego and back again. Just keeping it very simple. Great journey. Thanks for the reminder.
Wow!!! You did that!!! That is sooo cool!! Did you work along the way to get some cash? Where did you sleep, under the stars? Did you get a lot of rides, and where the rides long drives? Do Tell!
My first ride was from Chapel Hill to Galveston. My last ride was from San Francisco to Cary NC, the longest by far. Stayed a week with my brother in Houston, maybe a week with a sister in Dallas. A few days in a housing coop in Austin TX. I slept under highway overpasses, on the soft dirt all the way up at the top. I rented a motel room once night a week to shower and wash my underwear. Stayed in Estes Park CO a few days, loving great scenery and weather. I camped under the stars in fields under a liteweight poncho. I worked two weeks as a ranch hand in Utah for room and board, slept on the floor of the camp headquarters. The granary was in the next room so all night I heard mice twittering and running around really near my bed. Stayed a few days with an uncle and aunt near San Diego. Stayed two and a half weeks in San Francisco in a hostel for $2/night.
Extreme minimalist, eh?
Holycow, you were the epitome of minimalists! LOL!
What a great story! You certainly were Caine from Kung Fu!
Did family worry??
Love that show too! Have the whole series on my computer. Thanks for the reminder:-)
